Who Am I, Really? I have managed to write quite a number of articles and stories, sometimes with ease, and at other times with a kind of enjoyable difficulty. Yet writing a biography or introducing myself has always stopped me in my tracks and made me wonder: Who am I, really? My name is Zakaria Oumahna. I was born in Laayoune on September 25, 1999, and grew up there until I was fourteen. I then moved to Khémisset, where I completed my secondary education and obtained my baccalaureate. After that, I joined the École Normale Supérieure in Rabat, where I graduated as an English teacher. I work as a public-school teacher and am now in my fourth year of the profession. I am passionate about the English language to the point of obsession, fascinated by its details and complexities. With the same passion, perhaps even more, I love the Arabic language, its beauty, and its richness. Perhaps that is why I have found myself writing more in Arabic than in English. I began writing articles more than seven years ago, before eventually falling in love with the short story. I wrote my first story in 2020, titled Adam. More stories followed, and with them came new worlds, characters, and questions that I find myself returning to every time I write. There is a life in every story, and within every human life, there are many lives. As for the stories collected in this little book, they are lives that have lived, are living, and will live. Each one has its own story, its own scent, and its own soul. They may appear, on the surface, to be fleeting lives, yet within their details lies something deeply human: our weakness and strength, our fears and desires, our brokenness and our hopes. Perhaps, in the end, I have no final definition of who I am. I am still discovering myself, little by little, between the lines of what I write.
